Indonesia has decided to stop sending its citizens to work as maids in Malaysia due to reported abuse by some Malaysian employers. For example,we can see the cases that happened to Nirmala Bonat which has been abused by her employers named Yim Pek Ha.She was accused of poured boiling water, beating, and pressing a hot iron on Nirmala breasts and back as punishment for mistakes in ironing clothes cause a bad reputation to Malaysia.Other Asian countries that are sending maids to work in Malaysia have reported abuses by some Malaysian employers as documented by the victims themselves. The reported abuses committed range from physical abuse, attempted rapes, long working hours and non-payment of wages.according to some information from yahoo, More than 300,000 Indonesian women work as maids in Malaysia. Around 3,000 new maids head for Malaysia every month, most of them placed through specialized employment agencies.
According to reliable sources,maids file up to 150 complaints every month with authorities in Indonesia, alleging ill treatment, overwork, unpaid salaries and physical abuse in Malaysia. Malaysia has some 320,000 foreign maids legally working in the country. Almost 85 per cent are from Indonesia, followed by the Philippines and other South-East Asian countries.Indonesian maids prefer to work in Malaysia is because it is the nearest to theirs and there is no language problem.
This will cause problem to Malaysia if the Indonesian maid stop sending maids to Malaysia because Indonesians make up 90 per cent of the number, Cambodians eight per cent, and Filipinos make up two per cent.
Ministry also take an action which is make mandatory for all domestic helpers to sign a contract containing of how much the salary was,the name of the employers,workplace and it was compulsory for employers to give their maid one day off in a week for their maids to rest.It is because Malaysia received the most complaints for being terrible to their maids compare to the other countries such as Taiwan,Hong Kong and Singapore.

Hye, I am Amirah Abdul Raffar. Throughout the readings and my knowledge. It is true that Indonesian will stop sending their maids to Malaysia because of abuses on the maids itself. It does stated in the newspaper and the media such as television and the internet as well. But, why not you give us the proof or link to the statement and text which you written here, so that we as the readers can refer to that source as our readings and references. TQ ;)

You always do insists the proof or link the source from, we are blogging not in the court or writting thesis. So far as I know Malaysia still don't have the law to constraint blogging in the internet. Hmmp, i try not to get too far away from the topic.Actualy, I'm not trying to say that you are wrong but instead always giving a comment to ask people where the link or proof from, why not you ask something more useful? My questions here is, is that possible you elaborate more on the 'problem' might occur in Malaysia rather than giving informations on the abuse case and satistics of the foreign workers.
Maybe I repeat my question once again more clear to you. The problem will cause to us which u mean is like? Economic down? If all indonesia people stop working for us, our local people might not able to settle our owe work?
Why is them so important to us? and why can't we replace them with other foreign workers?

im syuriany..if indonesian stop sending their maids,we will have big lost in economy.It is because other than indonesian maids,we can hired filipino maids which is more expensive than indonesian maids.For your information,Filipino maids must be paid the minimum US$400 (RM1,400) monthly salary as decided earlier by Manila labour authorities.Compared to the indonesian maids,we will have to pay only RM500 and RM600.Its a big different in number right?if you want to hire a maid,which one do you prefer?indonesian or filipinos?#Please give your comment~~

So basically you are telling me that repercussions of maid abuse will cause Indonesia stop supplying us man power and directly affect economic of Malaysia? Economic been affected because 1) not enough man power to work for us and slow down the production. 2) Employers suffer higher cost to hire other foreign workers such as Filipino. Thank you.

Academic purpose do need proof for other people to believe. But what I trying to say here is proof is important, but got other issue is more important. I found that this title is abit out of topic as Syuriany just giving one point which Indoneasia will stop sending man power and cause Malaysia economic down.Then other parts not related with the particular title. So I think we should have ask her to elaborate more and correct the main structure instead of asking for link. If the things there are wrong, what for asking the source? the malaysian govt once decided to employ chinese from China itself to work as maid here but there are few arguments on that. The issues are the different languages speak, diff cultures apply and diff life styles. these might create an uneasy going of life style and unsatisfaction work done by them. also, this decision has to be cancelled as we gain only little benefits from it. otherwise, when we employ indons, we are in win-win situation - indons get job to work on and we get human resources in that field as we are shortage of it. Well then Sharif, what you have written here is true where I think the Indonesian maids shares the similarities with Malaysian where the language spoken is quite similar and be able to understood.
